Josh Is Back on the Job - They Installed Facia Boards - Prepped For Soffits - Built Scaffolding - Nailed and Sealed the Windows - House Day 46

Josh is back on the job after taking a nail for the team. Gary got a haircut. That is the nail gun that tried to take Josh down. They are constructing the scaffolding.

First the windows were caulked in - then about 70 nails go in every window.

Next - this really sticky foil tape seals every nail hole. The foil tape is 4 inches wide.

Joe Shiver was applying all that tape. It is really sticky stuff.

This is our master bedroom in the northeast corner. It has 4 corner windows. Notice the marine plywood layer along the bottom.

That is the front door. We use the living room for our workshop. The mitre saw sits on that table. Every day after the workers leave - I vacuum up the mess. This was after the cleanup - about 6 PM.

The fascia boards were applied to the roof. Also the soffit support boards were installed.

The windows have a high e-rating. The top sash is fixed in place - the bottom sash moves and can be tipped out for cleaning.

The scaffolding was used to work on the 10 feet high fascia and soffits.

Tomorrow the scaffold will be moved to the ends to close in the gables.

The roof is 6/12 - for every feet up the roof goes 12 feet horizontally. It makes the roof relatively easy to walk on.

3/4 inch plywood support the scaffold. It is recycled scrap from the roof and walls.

The detail work on the soffit frame is meticulous and not more than 1/16 of an inch off along the entire 60 feet run.

The gables will be enclosed tomorrow.

This is a view from the barn - looking south and east.

The back of the home.

This is the view from the street.

All we need to seal the house up is the 2 gables and 2 doors.

All windows are 3 feet x 6 feet. They will be interior plantation shutters to cover all windows.
